Bigg Boss 16, which Salman Khan hosts, attracted controversy right away when the producers added Bollywood filmmaker Sajid Khan as a competitor. Several women accused the director of sexual harassment in India in 2018 during the Me Too campaign.
While many celebrities, like Kashmera Shah and Payal Rohatgi, have criticised the producers for hiring the Housefull director, others, including Mandana Karimi, Sona Mahapatra, Urfi Javed, and Sherlyn Chopra, have praised Sajid. Rakhi Sawant has since shown support for him as well.
Rakhi is seen telling Sajid to go since there is so much animosity for him in the country, according to a video posted by celebrity photographer Viral Bhayani. She proceeded by saying that if she had the chance to go inside the Bigg Boss house, she would question him about the charges against him as they hadn't been proven.
Netizens have criticised Rakhi in the comments section, labelling her a "drama queen," and asserting that this is just a PR gimmick as she hasn't received an invitation to Bigg Boss 16 yet. For those who are unaware, Rakhi took part in both the first and second seasons of the contentious reality series.
She participated in Bigg Boss 14 as a challenger in the middle of the season and finished as the fourth runner-up. She entered Bigg Boss 15 as a wildcard after the first half of the season and placed seventh. Several past seasons of the programme have also invited her to appear as a guest.
Speaking about Bigg Boss 16, in addition to the director of the film Humshakals, other contestants include Abdu Rozik, Shalin Bhanot, MC Stan, Tina Datta, Gautam Singh Vig, Archana Gautam, Ankit Gupta, Manya Singh, Gori Nagori, and Sumbul Touqeer Khan.
